Episode 1: A New Hope

If this were Starwars wed be in episode 4 right now according to the title, but this isnt a galaxy far away and the only thing that has happened along time ago was the 1908 World Series.
We are stuck in episode 1 and have been for many many rewrites, but this is a new script, a new season that brings new hope like the previous 96 seasons. Could this be the one? Could this be the year the Cubs break curse and finally let the damn goat rest in peace? Could this be the year of moving forward and not looking back? Could it be the year the Cubs throw away the lovable loser tag, could this be the year with a pitching rotation that has been heralded as one of, if not the best in baseball, the Cubs finally, Finally! bring home the pennant.
Well your guess is as good as mine, I guess the charm of why we are Cubs fans is the undying hope we posses, no matter how bad it gets or how long it takes we just wont let ourselves stop hoping and believing.
But after tasting what it was like to be so close, were hungry and we want more.
With the additions of Maddux, Lee, Hawkins, Walker, and Hollandsworth, most would have to agree that the Cubs have upgraded and we hope theyve found that last piece of the puzzle they have been trying to put together for uncountable years.
So with a new rightside of the infield and couple of new pitchers, will it be enough?
Will it be enough to forget about a corked bat controversy? Will it be enough to overcome Houston at the end of the season? Will it be enough to overcome an extra out caused by an overexcited fan? Will there be enough experience and maturity to overcome whatever drama comes their way, because the Lord knows something always happens, to every team not just the Cubs, but will there be enough teamspirit and a strong enough comradery to overcome?
What happens when a star player goes down for a month or two?
I guess thats where hope steps up to the plate pinch hitting for us in the bottom of the ninth down by 2.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, its so close I can almost touch it. The Cubs are close I know it, you know it, Fred from Iowa knows it. Whatever the outcome at the end of the year, I can only guarantee this much, its gonna be one heck of a ride!
